Make cheap calls over the internet to online friends using this Android app
Windows Vista / Windows XP / Windows 2000
Voipdiscount is a free piece of software that allows you to make free phone calls to many different countries in the world.
Easy to download, it is available to use on computers that are multimedia and running at least Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2).
How does it work?
Like many Voip products, Voipdiscount uses the internet to route your calling request into the cloud and through a set of company-owned and public routers, sending your call to the proper destination. Available for years, the product has worked out many of the performance optimization problems that can plague software products that are relatively recent.
To use Voipdiscount, you will need to ensure that your computer has a Windows-compatible sound card. You will also need to have either a headset or a combination earpiece and internal microphone available on your computer.
What Features are available?
One of the most popular features that is available from one of these tabs is a contact list. The interface for Voipdiscount presents the user with tabs that they can use to perform the different actions that they need. Opening the contact list tab allows the user to add, edit and delete information about frequently called telephone numbers.
Another popular feature is the ability to call many countries for a reasonable price. While many of the most business-centric countries on the calling list are free, mobile phone and land-line calls to some countries are available and very competitively priced.
If you would like to use your own SIP device with the software, it is flexible enough that it will allow you to do so. The best advice here for potential users is to know what SIP hardware you have or will use and check that it is on the compatibility list prior to downloading Voipdiscount.
